The new American Idol

I have so much to say about the new American Idol....that I don't know where to begin....

First of all..as someone who believes in artists, songs, talent, American Idol of course is against all of my music beliefs but the fact is it is here...it is here to stay and as much as we have criticized it since it began the fact remains that this was going on way before there was American Idol. The question is: Is it better for the public to have a vote before labels, PR, publicity, radio, etc., tell the public who is the next star or is it better that the public finally have a say. However in asking that question you also have to ask: Is the public really choosing? Or is once again the industry telling the public who should win, what is an american idol, what is is a great singer, and if the public is not choosing...who is? The producers, the network, the potential label, the judges...or a combination of many?

It is TV so it will always be about ratings which good or bad equals drama which is why I am watching a 2 hour show to find out what 13 people have made it through. I could ramble on (seriously I could for forever) but I am trying to focus and get through to the fact that american idol is with us and so this is my prediction.

Lauren (is that how you spell her name) will be in the top 2. I said this before the live show. And while I love her I don't think she will be the winner.

My choice for the winner is Casey. Oh Casey...you had me at the stand up bass, you musicianship and your voice and you should win...you have what american will be all too familiar with in a couple months...the x factor. You do...you have a spark, a light, a twinkle but that wouldn't mean anything (to me at least) if you didn't have such a good musical talent.

I have many opinions on the new American Idol but I am sure I will express them in time. For now....Good luck to all those who have a vocal talent...that is what is suppose to be about for this competition. Someone who can be a great voice to the songs that great writers compose.
